Weary. Depleted. Run down. Have you ever felt so exhausted that mere sleep cannot refresh you? The weight on your shoulders is crushing you as you carry it day in and day out. The anxiety. The depression. The grief. The weight of the world. Whatever it is – it’s overpowering your life and draining the joy from your spirit.
I’ve been there before. I am even there today – crying out to the only One able to help me. I turn to the Lord and ask for His supernatural strength to make it through today. The Bible says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (Isaiah 40:29 NIV) I know God is able to infuse me with a fresh breath of life that lifts my spirits and helps ease the burden that I carry. For “the Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11 NIV)
I claim God’s promises as I pray these verses from Exodus 15:2 NLT:
“The Lord is my strength and my song;
He has given me victory.
This is my God, and I will praise Him –
my father’s God, and I will exalt Him!”
I start to feel a little lighter, for I know that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV) Not only some things. Not just the easy things. But all things – through Christ who gives me the strength to persevere. A merciful strength to endure the hardships of life. A bountiful strength to keep pressing forward over long periods of trial. A hope-filled strength that only God can supply to the weary, rundown, and brokenhearted.
Don’t be afraid to ask for His help and remember how much He loves you. Remember how much He delights in you. Remember the grace He has shown to you, and surely you will agree that “the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10 NIV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 NKJV
