How many times have you witnessed God’s faithfulness in your life? It’s probably more than you can recount! We serve a faithful God who seeks relationship with us, His creation. Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.” (ESV) Our Lord was faithful in the past and He is faithful now. He will continue being faithful. It’s just in His nature. He is a faithful and loving Father.
Indeed, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV) God’s love and faithfulness are not undone by our mistakes. They are not aggravated by our attitudes. The verse in Lamentations says God’s mercies are new every morning! There is nothing we can do to be separated from His love. What a relief to know we are faithfully loved always.
As God’s children, saved by grace through faith in Jesus, we have entered a covenant that cannot be broken. Such a bond should give us all the assurance we need that we are loved, called, chosen, and cherished. We can place our faith in a faithful Father. Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (NIV)
Take some time today to reflect on the times you have seen God’s faithfulness. You may not have seen it initially, but looking back you can likely see God’s hand in the moving pieces. Remember that we can place our hope in Him always. His love and mercy never cease!
Great is Your faithfulness.
