This final week of advent we reflect on the beautiful gift of Love that is Christ our Savior.
On Christmas, let us not forget what happened on a silent night long ago, in a humble stable in Bethlehem. When love came down in the form of a baby, wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. What a sacred and holy night when angels filled the sky and shepherds came to witness and worship the Savior of the world.
What great joy we celebrate because of the birth of Jesus! And at the heart of Christmas is this incredible gift – this gift of Love.
First John 4:10 says it well, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (NIV) What pure, holy, unselfish love.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV)
What indescribable love God has for us! “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV) To imagine that Jesus would hang on a cross to pay the penalty of our sins – all because He loves us! What a humbling thought.
So as we celebrate with friends and family on Christmas Day, let’s take the time to thank the Lord for “His indescribable gift” in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus – the free gifts of a relationship with God and eternal life in Heaven someday. (2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV)
May you have a Merry Christmas blessed with hope, peace, joy, and love!
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in You.
Psalm 33:22 NIV
