Begin Again

It’s been a while since I’ve posted to my blog. I forgot to post one Thursday and before you know it, the weeks had rolled by and I hadn’t written a word. But here I am – returned and ready to begin again.

Begin again. How often have you found yourself starting over? Maybe you’re just beginning to apply for jobs after a long pause. Or perhaps you’re starting to eat healthier and begin an exercise routine. Perhaps you’re trying to get back to reading your Bible or going back to church. Maybe you’re trying to kick a bad habit to the curb, and you find yourself beginning again – yet again. We can all find ourselves struggling to keep on top of everything, and sometimes good habits fall to the wayside or bad habits creep up on us. It’s then that we recognize we need to begin again – to start fresh with a clean slate. And thankfully we have a Father in Heaven who is more than merciful and who won’t hold our shortcomings against us. The Bible says, “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NASB)

So how can we begin anew? It takes discipline to do anything well and to follow through. With God’s help, we can move in the right direction. Psalm 37:23 says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” (NLT) God Himself says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.” (Psalm 32:8 NIV) Start by going to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to help you in your new beginning. Confess your stumbling blocks and ask for His help in overcoming them. Take up your new beginning with confidence, knowing that, “all things are possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23 ESV)

All things are possible for one who believes.

Mark 9:23
