Desires of My Heart

Last weekend marked a major milestone in my life. I got engaged to my wonderful boyfriend, David, beside the beautiful ocean! He had planned a special day trip for just the two of us. We walked hand in hand along the shoreline as the waves were rolling in. We could feel the cold water rush over our feet as our toes sunk into the sand. Sharing a picnic, we looked out over the cloud covered sea. It was peaceful. It was serene. Later that evening, around sunset, David turned to me and asked me to marry him. He held a beautiful ring in his hand. My heart swelled with love for this man. Of course, I said yes!

I truly felt in that moment, and in the days that have followed, that God has given me the desire of my heart. To marry such a wonderful man of God will be a gift – a gift given to me by the Lord, who has planned our union from before we were even born. As I wear my engagement ring, I reflect on the promise that it symbolizes – unity in love and marriage. A union before God. A marriage that will last a lifetime needs to be built on a firm foundation of faith. David and I are blessed to have that. We’ve followed the Lord and He has been faithful – He has given us the desires of our hearts.

What is your heart’s desire? Are you delighting yourself in the Lord? He longs to delight you!!

Delight yourself in the the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4
