Fear Not

Lately I’ve been struggling with some pretty intense fears and worries. Fear of the future. Fear of the unknown. Perhaps you can relate. I do my best to trust God, but I often get distracted by my anxiety and feel overwhelmed. That fear robs the joy from my days and leaves me feeling defenseless.

What can we do when we’re feeling overcome by fear? We can take those fears to God. He’s listening and truly wants us to share our hearts with Him. But we don’t stop there! We must make the choice to trust Him with our fears; to relinquish them into His outstretched hands. Indeed, we must choose to follow the promptings of Scripture, God’s own words: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)

God upholding us with His very own righteous right hand… That sounds like victory to me! I hope that whatever fears are plaguing you, that you would rebuke them and give them over to the Lord. He never intended for you to be burdened with fear. He intends to give us peace that passes all understanding: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)

I’m going to give my fears over to the Lord, for I know He loves me and will provide for me. Will you give Him your fears today too?

Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous.

Psalm 27:14
