I’ve recently been the recipient of God’s gracious provision. I was offered a job where I can use my skills and talents at a company that aligns with my values. I am so excited about this God-given opportunity! It’s easy to be grateful when we have big needs met, like getting a job. But how often do we recognize God’s provision for our everyday needs? Fresh water from the fridge; a warm shower; a clean bed to sleep in and nice clothes to wear. God not only provides the big things in life, but also all the little things that add up to a comfortable existence. Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) That means the big needs too, like buying a house or finding a spouse. God recognizes all of our needs and provides for them accordingly. That doesn’t always mean it will be on our timeline, but we can trust that He knows best.
Meanwhile, we are called to follow the Lord and wait on Him. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3 NIV) Just like He’s been preparing me over the course of several years for this particular job, God is also paving the way for your life’s journey and all the milestones you’ll celebrate. From the big needs to the simple pleasures, God provides it all. Indeed, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17 NIV) I’m thanking God for meeting my needs today! Won’t you?
And my God will meet all your needs…
Philippians 4:19 NIV
