On the dark days, when the clouds are crowding in and my spirit is floundering, my lament to the Lord echoes Psalm 69:1-3 NIV:
“Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in the miry depths,
where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
the floods engulf me.
I am worn out calling for help;
my throat is parched.
My eyes fail,
looking for my God.”
Have you ever felt this way? Like you’re drowning without a life preserver in sight?
It can be hard to see the Lord in our difficult circumstances, but take heart – He is always there. Psalm 135:14 MSG reminds us that “God holds the hands of His people.” Through thick and thin, God is with us. We can draw on His strength when we are weary. We can lean into His comfort when our souls are downcast.
Cry out to the Lord when you’re drowning, like the psalmist David does:
“But I pray to you, Lord,
in the time of your favor;
in your great love, O God,
answer me with your sure salvation.”
(Psalm 69:13 NIV)
And remember, no matter what deep waters we’re going through, God is just one prayer away. We know that He holds our hands and won’t ever let go. He is our sure salvation from the storm!
… In your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
Psalm 69:13 NIV
Hope, this is truly beautiful. I love reading what you post. I am a friend of Holly Boyer. We have been friends for many years.
