Stand Firm

At the beginning of 2020, I chose a “word of the year” accompanied by a verse. My word was “stand,” and my verse was 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

I did not know how pertinent those verses would become in 2020. Both the word “stand” and the verse from 1 Corinthians have served as helpful reminders to me throughout this past year. What a year it has been! But through it all the Lord has called me to stand firm, just as Paul writes in his letter to the church of Corinth. “Let nothing move you,” Paul urges. Stay strong in your foundation of faith. Remain rooted in the Word and in Christ Jesus. Stand firm in your convictions and hold true to your values. Keep the faith and don’t lose heart. This is what Paul advises, and the message still rings true for me and you!

Have you felt shaken this year? We have all been held captive by a global pandemic. We have all had to make major adjustments to our daily lives. We have all suffered disappointments. And yet, we have overcome. We have stood firm in the faith. We have continued to look to the Lord and given ourselves fully to the work He has appointed each of us. Our future may feel uncertain; the present moment may have its woes. But take heart! Stand firm! Continue to do the Lord’s work that He has appointed you to do. For we know our labor in the Lord is not in vain. And we know the One who holds us all in His hands.

Stand firm. Let nothing move you…

1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Always look forward to Thursdays and your inspired words! Feeling more grounded in a week that tried to throw off my footing. Thank you!

  2. Mary Grace says:

“For such a time as this.”

God calls his people, his writers, his singers, his preachers, his nurses, his Dr.s his mothers, fathers, and children, to stand firm.

Thank you for the reminder. ❤
